To ensure fire safety measures, factories are typically equipped with basic firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers. There are various types of fire extinguishers, including dry powder extinguishers, foam extinguishers, carbon dioxide extinguishers, etc. So, are all these types of extinguishers suitable for cleanroom technology?

Cleanrooms are specifically used for manufacturing products with relatively high cleanliness requirements. Before entering a cleanroom, strict cleaning procedures must be followed, and depending on different requirements, additional cleaning equipment such as changing rooms, storage rooms, and transfer windows may be added. Therefore, it’s clear that cleanrooms have certain cleanliness standards.

So, can all types of fire extinguishers be used in cleanroom technology?

It is recommended that carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are more suitable for cleanrooms, while dry powder and foam extinguishers are not. During operation, dry powder extinguishers release a large amount of dust, and foam from foam extinguishers may corrode some equipment in the cleanroom. When using fire extinguishers, we cannot fully control the spray range, leading to dust scattering and settling on equipment in the room—some particles are even too small to be seen with the naked eye.

On the other hand, carbon dioxide extinguishers, a type of gas extinguisher, not only effectively suppress fires but also ensure that equipment in the room remains uncontaminated. Additionally, gas extinguishers are reasonably priced and have a relatively long lifespan. Therefore, they are highly suitable for cleanroom preparedness.
